I am not sure if there are any factory warranties that are transferable. Most that I know of apply to the original purchaser only. If I had bought that razor on ebay and wasn't satisfied I would take it up with the vendor directly. If I liked the razor enough to keep it I would either leave it as is, or if the area at the end bothered me that much I would take a round needle file and smooth it out. Follow with some fine wet & dry sandpaper. YMMV.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I agree for the spam filter risk.

Especially because french spam filters are very sensitive to english,
namely because spam is so much more frequently in english than in french...

Once again: many valid and good points! Thank you guys, much appriciated! Special thanks to Niftyshaving and Christophe, for all the time and work you put into your answears!!

I did take it up with the seller, I asked him if had any contacts with TI about this (he hadn't) and I also said I could contact them if he hadn't, since I thought it wouldn't be a problem (being a 2011 edition). I payed 201 euro + shipping. The blade is delicate/thin as you can see and I'm afraid to damage the blade if I sand it down. But a friend of mine offered to help me out, so that's how I'm going to do it, since I like how it shaves and love the design and it seems like hard work to maybe get in contact with TI + the outcome seems unsure if I manage.

If you do not ask, you do not get, but there is no privity of contract therefore TI are not obliged to do anything. What this means is your contract is with the seller, not TI, and their liability for a defective product is nil on your behalf. Assume nothing. If the seller still has proof of purchase then he may be able to get a replacement on your behalf, being commercial.

The seller may avoid liability also. Was it sold to you as a new razor free of any flaws? Or was it just a photo without any description? What endeavours did you make to ascertain its condition?

I'd just send it to any of the restoration guys.

Cheers Scipio! My friend is one of the restoration guys. He did sell it as new, here's the headline:
"Coupe Chou Straight Razor THIERS ISSARD 7/8 Steel C135
LIMITED EDITION - Shave Ready NOS"
and here's some words inside the add:
    "It' s new, ever used."

The photos was good, but you never saw this on them (I don't want to put up a link, since it's a private person that sold the razor and I don't think he ever saw the flaws in the finish at the toe). But it's great advice, asking him if he has proof of purchase, I'll do that before sending it anywhere. Thanks once more!

I think you are wise for taking care of your problem yourself, Mikael.

I bought a TI off the SRP classifieds almost two years ago and there was a very small crack in the very tip of the blade. The seller did not know it was there and I honestly believe it was there since it came from the factory. The seller was a good guy and paid for the razor surgery which was performed by our very own gssixgun. Thanks again, Glen. Name: thiers_gorge.jpg

That's one nice looking blade ^^ and Glenn sure did a good job! Yeah, I'm not trusting TI or myself to fix this in a good way. I'll be sticking with vintage TI razors in the future, I've got several and those three all've a better finish than this one. TI screwed the quality control on this one up.

If that was the case, then you deserve a refund. When buying a new good from a retailer in this case, there is an implied term amongst others that the razor will be fit for use and free from defects. Arguably this is defective and certainly a body of experts ie. SRP would clarify this.

You have the right to a refund, subject to the seller's return policy. Otherwise give it a polish. It may be quicker and easier to do so!

I bought 2 brand new TI limited editions in the new super-steel or whatever they call it. Both had this sort of defect but in places on the face of the blade. They may have quality control issues. Both razors were graciously replaced by the vendors who hopefully were able to resolve the return through TI. They are still nice razors but for the price they may be selling their name more then their razors anymore, YMMV.

It's not uncommon for a MFG to only deal with distributers and vendors, and to pretty much ignore the end user. TI could possibly use this policy, but I can not say for sure since I've never tried to contact them.

Best bet would be to deal exclusively with the vendor, and only go higher if the vendor proves to be unreliable.
