That sounds within reason. E-bay takes extravagant handling fees very seriously

I do alot of shipping outside the U.S mostly with watches and from my own experience and others though the incidence of theft is rare percentage wide when it happens to you its no laughing matter. I've been lucky but I know people who have been ripped off here in the U.S by UPS and fedex and many instances where items are shipped outside the U.S through USPS and never arrive or arrive with an empty box. I have gotton things in such poor condition that the contents were hanging out of the packaging.
When the USPS will only give very limited insurance on items to countries like the UK and Italy there's a reason for that. Germany happens to have a first rate Postal Service.
It all comes down to taking a chance. personally I won't pack something shabbily to save a buck or two even if it comes out of my own pocket. And yea people will tell you ship it the cheapest method and declare it for $25.00 and then when its lost and they lose the item they change their tune all of a sudden and want a full refund. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
