Maybe I'm alone on this one, but I'm not really a fan of razors that have had their backs "worked" like that. I like ones that have ornate designs, such as Thiers-Issard's "leaf and vine" pattern or the ones with gold inlays; but this Fridour just looks like it took a thirty second trip to the grinder. I think "Brokeback Razor" is a more appropriate term.
I think they're better un-modified. The "plain Jane" scales could use a change-up, though, you're right. Mammoth ivory is a great idea. I don't have any of that ivory in my collection yet, but buying it from a supplier and having the scales custom-made would really cut costs. I love the idea of having the tusks of an long-since-extinct, enormous beast as part of my collection. I know I'd cherish a razor like that.
