Glad you got to see it. I have wanted to see it on the big screen for years and unfortunately did not know about the one night only showing. Hopefully I will get the opportunity someday...

Speaking of shows with a straight razor shave in them, my wife and I were watching the 2nd season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire and Nucky (Steve Buscemi) was shaving with a straight. Too bad he didn't come here first and learn how to make it look a bit more real. Love the almost 90 degree blade angle against the throat.
Great show though. Would love to know where the buildings are where they film.

Great movie. I have the latest remastered version on DVD. I've read the book and only a couple of years ago. I began trying to read it after seeing the movie, on the big screen, when it was first released. Took me 48 years to finally slog through it. There are some sublime parts within it but there is a lot of detail of going over this hill, across that stream .... but some of it is remarkable. Winston Churchill said it was one of the 'greatest books of the century'. Had President Bush 2 read the first couple of chapters before he sent us off to those wars we might never have gone...... but that is another story.

Some years ago (in 1983), I was working in Saudi Arabia. Near Tabuk, we came across a rusting steam locomotive laying on it's side in the desert.

The story is that it was damaged by an attack, by Lawrence, on the Hijas railway which at the time ran from Istanbul to Medina and was used to supply the Turkish troops.

That would be a great piece of history to see!

It always amazes me to think of how different the world would be had the British and French governments kept the simple promise they made to Lawrence and the Arab people.
