I am currently looking into barber school. I have to make a big decision career wise and am still not sure the barber will be my best bet. I would love to have it as a career and passion though

Personally, I love barbering, and wish that I would have started years ago. That being said, it is not for everybody. My school is ripe with guys that couldn't do anything else, and figured that barbering would be an easy option. To learn the classic barbering skills takes a lot more time and dedication than most people anticipate. You have to have great people skills and self-discipline in order to be a successful barber.

Good luck with your decision-- and if you have any questions about barbering just let me know

That's so true! There are some fellas that are a bear to shave, and us barbers all know who they are. I remember my first squirrel, I was an unsuspecting newbie-- I went to make my first stroke, I heard the 'ping' described in the article, and the razor would not budge. I instantly broke out in a sweat-- 45 minutes and four blades later I finished the shave. I felt terrible about it by the time I was done. I sat the guy up, and he loved it! He's been coming to me at least once a week for the last 10 months; I've gotten much better with him (only takes me 2 razors now), but I still get a little nervous every time he walks in the door.
