I wouldn't be so irritated with it all if i would see a little progress, but it seems that when i use my cartridge razor, that i just get massive razor burn, and nothing to show for it. Aside from the video, which is very informative, would anyone have any other advice? Some have said that over time you mastered your technique. Can you label what some of the things were that you learned over time that may not have been so obvious at the start?
From your previous posts I gather that you are using a 5 bladed cartridge type razor and there is not much similarity in technique in using one of those and an actual straight razor or conventional Double Edge safety razor. Most people here do not use the type of razor you do. Prepping your face, making a good lather and post shave treatments can be used as with a straight or DE.

This video helped me the most. I have probably looked at it hundreds of times and the longer I looked at it, the more things I picked up. Eventually I found better ways for me to get the job done, but it all originated from this clip.

This is one of my favorites videos to watch and learn from!!

Ive notice that as my technique improves I'm finding all important to have the correct angle on the blade when shaving the chin area. I found that I was holding the razor too flat against the skin to get a really close shave. Getting the angle of the razor correct has made a world of difference.
