Thanked: 1195If I'm travelling by car I'll pack my straight shaving gear, but not if I'm flying, I just couldn't be bothered with the BS involved. I'm not a complete SR snob that simply cannot use anything else, so I'm perfectly happy packing a DE and some blades. I am, however, a lather snob, so a brush and proper soap or cream are a must.

I am heading on my first trip 03/10 to TX for work since I started. I fly with my firearm so ditties are packed per norm and my straights are going in the gun case.
My baggage is always inspected (I have been traveling with a side arm for a long while). Some how now my luggage makes it to.....

Thanked: 3When I travel by plane I typically pack a replaceable blade straight (I use a FROM hair shaper which is $20 at a local beauty supply store.) without the blades and grab a pack when I get where I'm going. It fits the FROM blades perfect if you can find them and if you cant single edge safety razor blades work in a pinch they are just shorter.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can pack that stuff on your checked luggage, you just can't carry on.

You're on vacation, so I say enjoy your morning ritual. On a recent trip to Cuba, I took two straight razors, a hanging strop, cream, pre-shave and brush in my suitcase. Didn't take much space and there was still plenty of room for a few boxes of cigars and a nice bottle of rum. I would wake up before the wife and kids, take a hot shower, shave, and then go for a jog and swim at the beach.

For travelling on vacation I bought a small vintage leather zip up shaving pouch which carries a brush, shaving stick, DE, blades, small comb and a small A/S spray. It even has a small mirror inside!
I bought it as new on EBAY because it had my initials in gold on the outside
I would like to take a SR but too much hassle!
Make sure you do not have it in your carry on baggage.

Thanked: 36I bring 2 straights in checked luggage, a paddle strop, travel brush and tube of cream to face lather with. Not too much of a hassle. If travel outside US, I pack the DE.

Thanked: 983I just take a DE, tube of shave cream and a brush. It's just much easier that way.

Thanked: 485Proraso soap in the plastic container is good; the lid can double as a bowl (I found that out on my last camping trip).
Depending how long your going for you can get away without stropping, but a strop laid flat in a suitcase takes up very little room.
After Shave is a necessity for me, even when camping in the Australian bush. Floïd goes very nicely with Proraso. Then again, that's a match for summer. Where are you going? What's the weather like? Is it a holiday where all you do is drink at open air bars watching Thai kick boxing or one where you eat at cafes and restaurants after floating around the pool with a cocktail all afternoon?
What you take will depend on what sort of holiday, I reckon...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
