Dang, GWH! I bet you'd like a couple of books by Ayn Rand - The Fountainhead and its more long-winded version, Atlas Shrugged.
Either way, me and my girlfriend aren't quite the kind of hippies you have associated with the word. <3
To be off-topic myself, this was pretty much my first post at SRP, and I can already tell I'm going to have a lot of fun with you guys!

Sigh...you all know how much it pains me to ever agree with Xman, but here I go...
Lets not turn this thread into an attack a fellow SRPer regarding his life decisions and moral choices. This thread was not intended as a discussion of lifestyle choices, but about helping another SRP user through his significant other's negative feelings towards straight razor, which I am sure we have all faced, I know I have!. We dont have to agree on lifestyles to agree about straight razor shaving. I am about the most stubborn gun toting, raw meat eating, conservative american you will meet, but my lifestyle choices just like any member of opposite beliefs only adds to the wonderful diversity of our community here at SRP. So please, lets consentrate on what our differences can bring to the community, and not force them to detract from it.
If you would like to make a political thread, that should be made in the off topic forum, however, I strongly advice against it, as its usually a lose-lose situation. We as a group have found that its better to "agree to disagree" than attempt to convince a meat eating conservative to "hug a tree", or to attempt a peace loving, vegan to kill a deer, as neither of these generally have a favorable outcome.
Now that Im dont being nice, if the lifestyle bashing continues (which I trust that it wont) I'll pull my moderator card out and close the thread...but I absolutely hate doing that, as does the rest of the community, so lets just be civil and move on shall we?
On another note, my wife once caused me to actually pierce my ear while shaving with a straight, when she scared the crap out of me while at a hotel in NYC. Fireworks started going off randomly, she started screaming, and my Bill Ellis wedge went clean through my ear. To this day she still denys that it was her fault...but I have a nice scar on my ear either way. Women generally warm up to straight razor shaving, it takes a while, but most of the time us men are quite rewarded for our grooming efforts. Hell, if you listen closely you might even hear her brag to her friends about how smooth your skin is and what a tough guy you are for shaving with a cut throat! Of course, in your particular situation, I am not sure how she will feel about badger or boar brushes, but thats why they make synthetics

I have one thing to say SHUT UP and stick to shaving topics everywhere but "off topic". I really don't care about guns, pens, cars, etc however if I want to learn a bit about them I will and have looked in that area. That is also where I go to write about non shaving topics that effect me. This is the only place where I can talk about shaving with other people who are also interested in this subject. You hate your wife "I don't care, You hate your dog "I don't care, You hate people who shave with a straight "I care"
I hope this doesn't mean I agree with X.!!!

Haha big "little" toe
Hey Bear,
a whole branch of my family tree has the same condition.
None of the women can wear pointy shoes cause their toes don't fit.
Seriously...I'm laughing with you....

Oh and I want to say sorry
Xman and Jorge I would also like to say sorry to you two as this had nothing to do with you.
My hostility was misplaced and I am ashamed that I ran off at the mouth as I did.
My humblest apologies.....
