I just sorted out the 'Electronic System for Travel Authorization' application with DHS for travel to the US. The red tape sure has become thicker since I last visited the US
And while I understand the added value of checking my passport number and ID number against a database ahead of time, I am less convinced of the value of the yes / no question asking me if I wanted to commit acts of terrorism or genocide whilst traveling in the US...Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I believe that credit for that (at least in the beginning) goes to Osama Bin Laden and his gang of terrorists.
Right after 9/11 I was working out of state and I had to fly back to my store. When I checked into the airport my baggage was 'randomly' searched. Then at the gate, my eyelets in my boots set off the alarm and I was hand scanned. Then when I went to board I was 'randomly' hand scanned again!
Oh! There were also military personnel stationed when you entered the airport and we were questioned about why we were there
Welcome to the 'New and Improved' World! Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Hi Bruno,
It will be good to put a face to the name plus actually meet you in person.
In regards to airport security I have two metal hips and you ought to see the metal detectors go off when I go thru them. Proving that I don't have pistols embedded in my skin is quite a challenge for them sometimes.
See you shortly.
Billif anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

Thanked: 3795When I flew to Vancouver BC a year and a half ago I arranged a mini-meet-up for while I was there. That meant I brought some hones and a Brock microscope on the planes with me. Let's just say that I got a lot of extra attention. Every one of my hones, especially the Shapton GlassStones, were considered to be extremely suspicious.

Thanked: 3795D&mn. Oh well, at least hopefully you still can make it to Howard Clark's place a couple months later. That will be a cheaper trip and still a great opportunity to learn from a master.
