I was back and forth on going to this and glad I did. There is only so much you can learn from videos. The feedback you get from learning from someone else is invaluable. I learned to hone "properly". I could learn to hone through YouTube videos, but would never have known if I was in fact doing it correctly.

I also don't have any tools, but after this meeting I know have the knowledge to point me in the right direction to building the tools I need.
The only reason i got to where i got today was that a decade ago i looked at a damascus razor by Robert Williams and said to myself 'i can do this' and i started from scratch in terms of resources and skill.

Getting there is just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other and not quitting.

Anyone can do this starting from scratch if they just put in the hours.

I quite enjoyed the video, Bruno. I think you have some great teaching skills.

Thanks a million for insisting on filming this Ron!

Yes, considering that this video is raw and unedited it came out very professional.

Were you able to finish the razor you were working on? I had to leave early and have been wondering how you made out.

No, I didn't get my final grind in, however I got plenty instruction on honing from Randy and some from Ron. So I can get a good edge on my razor once I get it to that point. Otherwise I would have gotten my grind most way done and no way to get proper edge..

Need to build a grinder so I can do more. Working on sourcing scrap metal from local shops to build a forge.

Here is the footage that Randy took while at the meet. Lots of good information in here. There is a table of contents if you click on the show more part of the Youtube page.

Bruno, that decade has brought you a long ways since then & paid off well! It's all very fascinating. Keep up the good work.
It just goes to show that determination & willpower will get you there.

Hey guys , I just got back home from the meet last week and have been busy around the house and catching up on the stack of mail that was waiting for me.

Charlie, again THANK YOU for the hospitality, use of your stuff , and allowing me to pick at your brain. That goes for everyone else I bothered while there. Sure hope I can make the meet in Iowa.
