Nuts, my mother will be in town. I don't think she'd take to kindly to me ditching her... Plus she can punch really hard...

It's on! This Friday I will be host to a gent with a beard whom recently made the switch from DE to SR for his head shaving, as well as Learner.
I can accommodate one more person, comfortably. I've reached out to a couple of other Hoosiers, but haven't heard anything back. They are better described as "lurkers" with regards to SRP.
I've got a busy day of cleaning & chores ahead of me on Thursday. And the wife said something about "indulging her need to serve finger food". I dislike doing stuff in the kitchen. And not for any sexist reasons, either. I just don't like the amount of effort required in order to do anything worthwhile in there. Ya know?Decades away from full-beard growing abilities.

Among other reasons, my childhood has a lot to do with why I loathe kitchen work. Before I could see over the edge of the countertop, my mother had sat me on a stool in front of the sink to wash overflowing sink-fulls of dishes. Because I was so young (and she was so anal...), the dishes were never clean enough. This meant I had to re-wash the same dishes several times, and was even punished for missing spots.
Also, food is fuel. Whereas razors are shiny!

Re-Do!
Well, the mini meet fell apart last minute. One guy (recent convert from DE to SR for his head shaving) was put "on call" at his job for that day, as things had picked up there. I informed the other gent, told him that he was still welcome, or we could reschedule. He opted for the latter, so he could meet us both. Not a big deal, since there were only going to be two guys other than myself.
A fellow member that lives here in town is also interested. He just happens to not log in all that often, and posts even less. I also have an acquaintance that uses a DE, but is interested in SRs whom I will reach out to. No idea on his availability . Also reached out to a gent from Anderson; heard back (not available for yesterday), not sure if interested in future events.
Anyway. I'm trying to reschedule for Friday, two weeks from now. Exact time of day is not nailed down yet, but it will be anywhere from the afternoon to late night.
I have been doing all the arrangements directly so far. Still more messages/emails to send out.Decades away from full-beard growing abilities.

I'm extremely happy that I was able to host a gathering of Hoosier wet shavers! There was a total of three gents + myself: Learner (Tom), mrmessma, & cwade3085.
I had a blast. It didn't feel like I talked a ton, but my throat hurt a bit not long after the last had left. I figure that has more to do with my job not requiring a lot of verbal communication .
There were stones, & strops, & razors, oh my!
Tom had some fine examples, in a worthy case. I even got to hold one of them "chopper" 8/8 W&B that is all the craze! Next time, I should ask to play with the lapping film some; I was curious about the stuff when I initially looked into hones.
mrmessma brought a nice complement of hones, to which we had a nice discussion on.
I'm especially glad that cwade3085 was able to make it. I was able to return his GD that I've been coaxing a shave ready edge out of. Of course, I asked the other fellas for their opinion on the edge. I even asked if they'd be able to improve upon it at all. I am not too proud to admit where I may be less skilled/experienced than those around me.
It felt good to spend a few minutes going over some basics with cwade3085. I'm sorry it wasn't the one-on-one guidance this all started out as, but I think we worked out a few major bullet points with stropping! What folks say about the GD scales is right: they are slightly bulky, adding difficulty to the flip in stropping.
Sorry folks, no pictures. I tried to stay off my phone as much as possible, and it's not like we had the meetup at some place cool like a blacksmith forge! Maybe next time, I'll try setting up a camera for time lapse photography .
We should do this again sometime!Decades away from full-beard growing abilities.

Now that you have broken the ice the next razor meets will be easier.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Hopefully. Contacting everyone directly, individually, is time consuming. And I only really contacted roughly half a dozen guys. Three showed, so that's good.

*Head-desk*
We... really need to up our game!!!
Seriously, though?!? Fishing lure enthusiasts. 900 of them! They rented out a convention hall at the big stadium here in the city. And for three days!
But it took me roughly a month of multiple messages & e-mails a day to get four of us in the same room for a few hours.
Here's an idea: "Open to the public; anyone can come. $5 admission."
