Labor Day can work for me - I can slip away for a few hours but my wife is having some company so I can't host. So we have that hurdle to get over.

I don't have any plans yet for Labor Day (or that weekend), and could host if people want to meet at my place. I'm near Manchester with easy access to highway.

I'll have to pass on Labor day weekend.
Already booked solid.

I should be able to make it there. I'll be happy to contribute to snacks etc. as well.

Thought I'd touch base with everyone and see where we are on meeting up...
Who's in for Labor Day?
My place (near Manchester NH) ok?
What range of times should we plan on?
Any thoughts on what we'd like to do for food?
I have a grill, there are nearby pizza/sub places, or we can snack.
Folks can BYOB (as I don't drink alcohol so don't have anything around).
Let me know. I can send out directions to those interested, assuming we have a quorum.Regards,

For me, I can put pretty good edges on my straights at this point. I worked through the normal progression of hone acquisition (Norton 4-8K combo, then a Naniwa 12K finisher, pasted strops and felt, needed a 1K for restoration and bevel setting so got the Naniwa 1K, then moved on to a Thuringian finisher, and then a couple of coticules).
My honing skills are what I want to improve and I think I need to work with someone who is an expert in honing in order to bring my skills to the next level. Although I would love to meet fellow enthusiasts in my area and we can certainly teach each other new things - if Holli can't make it, I'm not sure slipping away from Labor Day family activities for a few hours is going to have the return I'm looking for.
I hope this doesn't sound to rude or self righteous guys - it's certainly not how I intend it.

No problem. I too would like to get some mentoring to advance my skills. Hence the reason for checking with people.
I'm fine with postponing to a more advantageous date.
Should we?

I could make it for Labor Day. Only about a 3.5 hr drive. But if folks can't and a new date needs to be considered, I'm free to travel on normal weekends as well.

My vote would be to find a better day - we already lost Pete and perhaps others who didn't comment but have activities planned.
