That's me swinging the sledge to work down the meteorite billet, with andy Lewis handling the tongs to move the billet so that I always strike the middle of the anvil.

a slice of the meteorite loaf
A 5 layer billet with 3 layers of 1095 and 2 layers of meteorite
The billet after welding it together, with help from Andy Lewis who handled the tongs so that I could strike with 2 hands. the crusty stuff on the outside is crust of the meteorite that got squeezed out.

2 pieces of twisted damascus with 11 layers
2 pieces of 9 layer damascus with just parallel lines
Super funky wonky damascus. This was made in 5 or 6 steps, with the billet being split in different piece that were twissted differently, nickel shims inserted at various moments, and then combined and twisted again at the end. I cut the final bar in half and used one of the pieces to weld a wootz piece underneath it for the edge.
2 razor blanks I forged. These are 5 layers each, with the odd layers being a twisted from 5 layers of steel.
