Thanked: 22096th Annual North Central Texas Razor Meet at Charlie Lewis Straight Razor Workshop
Hello all !
It is once again time for all aspiring straight razor makers to join us for 5 days
of razor forging and grinding heaven.
The dates this year are Feb 15-16-17-18-19.
Most of us stayed at the Twilite Inn at a cost of approx $50 nite for double occupancy.
A very good deal on a clean, basic room close to the workshop.
The place ... Burkburnett, Texas. For the address just post in this thread and it will be sent to you.
Burkburnett is 120 miles due south of Oklahoma City, OK and just over the state line in Texas.
It is also about 2 hours north of Dallas.
Charlie and Me have spoken with a few people so far and it looks like Bruno, our SRP Admin will be flying over here once again and I hope he brings along some of his Wootz and Damascus razors for us to all drool over!
I hope to see all the usual suspects once again, Tcrideshd, Paco, Bill Watkins, rolodave, 32T, Scott Goodman, Bluesman7, bob allman, thehattr, and all the others! Of course Utopian will be driving with me and our host Charlie Lewis will be there.
We will be doing a few things differently this year.
1. Due to the difficulty and expense of getting 15-20 guys to a restaurant for lunch and dinner we will experiment with preparing lunch and dinner at the workshop. This will save all of us some money and time. To pay for this we will be asking for donations to cover the costs of the food.
We are estimating about $5 for lunch and $10 for dinner each day. We will ask for volunteers to help prepare each meal.
There will be one evening when we will go to a very good steakhouse in Wichita Falls. This has become a tradition and we wish to continue it.
Breakfast is kinda up in the air. If the breakfast restaurant somehow becomes operational again then there will be that option. Or some of us will be making breakfast at the workshop , or ... your on your own. Your choice.
2. Operating expenses.
The cost of propane for the forges and BBQ grills, grinding belts, repairs to the forge, electricity, steel etc need to be passed on to the users of such items. If you actively make use of the above we ask that you make a donation of $10 per day for such. If however you do not do so on a day then your cost will be zero. Once again, this is a expense that has been paid for by a few people in the past but all of you will understand that it has become to much for just a few people to subsidize.
Any questions ?
Hope to see you all there!Last edited by randydance062449; 12-27-2017 at 02:52 AM.

Thanks Randy for all of your organizing and cat herding.
There is a new restaurant/diner that has opened that should work for breakfast. It is on the same street as the old diner.
I cannot recall the name of it, I will update this thread after I drive by the place and get the name and address, ( I need to get out more )

Sounds great!
I'm in.
Room already booked in Witchita Falls.
Not sure yet if I will be driving or flying. If I fly it will be to Oklahoma City.
I've been wanting to attend for years. I'm really looking forward to this.
See ya all real soon!
