Thanked: 995Once there was a tour bus full of fine Minnesota women heading down into Iowa to visit Decorah. Now Decorah Iowa is known as the geographic center of Scandihoovia in the midwest and Luther College is famous for it's library collection. It's a hotbed of Norwegian expatriate culture. They have a genuine Gutenberg Bible that can be viewed. It's a massive work, heavy in the style of thick paper and printed pages one at a time. A rare piece.
Now in 1999, these elderly women were also proud of their political acumen. They'd helped elect Jesse Ventura to the governorship of Minnesota. One of them could not resist and spoke of this to the librarian saying, "Minnesota is such a great place. Look we elected a fine strong man as our new governor. I bet he could lift this bible easily."
The librarian, long suffering in the Lutheran tradition and a lifetime of such jibes, returned her opinion, "Ah yes Ma'am, but our governor can read it."“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.” R.G.Ingersoll

I bought extra socks. That's the only clothing related thing where I buy expensive.
Bridgedale socks. 20 to 25 $ per pair, made with Merano wool.
I only buy 1 or 2 pair at the time because of the cost. Esp since they are right next to the bin where you can buy 3 or 4 pair for 5$
My wife thinks it's funny because I am always the one who thinks it's too warm, yet I wear wool socks even when it's not too cold. But having warm and cushy feet is totally worth it.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

While blowing the drive yesterday with temps in the teens, 60f sounded damn good!
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.
