I will post my pics tomorrow when i get home. My phone is not convenient for this. I am currently waiting for boarding.

Walking into dfw with a guncase was weird. The people at check in were very friendly and took me to a private place where i could unlock the case and tsa inspected it. The TSA officer complimented me on the sword.

So that part seems under control. No i am just curious how they will react to 30 pounds of raw bloomery steel in my suitcase.

Made it home. 13 hrs 40 min. The weather and traffic were so much better than last year! So I decided to make a single day of it.

A couple of fuel stops and potty breaks along with some excellent leftover BBQ on a sandwich at a wayside rest on my tailgate were the only stops I made.

Glad you made it safe. My pulled pork didn’t last long enough for me to leave Charlie’s parking lot.

    Safely back home!

I was anxious about my luggage. Especially when the conveyor started, spewed out 1 measly suitcase, and then changed the sign to 'baggage dispense ended'. I checked with the service desk, they did some calls and sometime later the baggage was there. Same story at the 'oversized luggage' desk. Eventually they found my sword. I checked, and there are 2 minor scuff marks on the underside of the saya (scabbard) but it's hardly noticeable. This is why I went with a matte finish.

Customs didn't stop me when walking out even though I was sure that the guncase would draw attention. TSA did inspect my suitcase (no surprise there) but didn't leave a note, which was odd. I did put a short open letter to the TSA on top of the contents, to explain what those lumps of bloomery steel were.

Btw funny anecdote about bacon. One day I had to send the waitress back for more bacon and I heard her telling someone 'See, I TOLD you he said 3 sides of bacon!'

Also TC was kind enough to bake me up a private batch of bacon on Saturday! Special thanks go out to TC's wife who wasn't there but nonetheless played a big role in this meet.
