Earthdawn, Looks like this is going to be a real informal get together. If it goes well then I will look into having another one again next year. Maybe in Febuary or March weather permitting. I am from Long Island myself and know that is is a long drive to start with. Worse with snow on the ground.

I'm from Westchester myself. With the recent gas prices, I think it might actually be cheaper to fly than to drive. If you book in advance with JetBlue, round trip is right around $110. I'm close enough to the Rochester airport to pick people up, and I wouldn't mind housing a guest for a weekend. Just something to think about for next time.

You'll have to refresh my memory; does the board at The Toad use steel tipped darts or is it that magnetic junk? The other night I was at my bar, and the guys on the board commented that they only go to bars with steel tipped darts. But I don't remember them mentioning The Toad.

Well it's looking like this get together will be at Joe's place. But Scott, and anyone else who is in Rochester, I'm always up for a totally informal meet up. I frequent Monty's Krown (the bar is a dive, I know the bartenders); it's a nice place to meet up for a pint, and my apartment is about a half mile away. Feel free to PM or AIM (it's in my profile), or maybe I'll PM you.

Confirmation of meeting Nov 9
Just a quick follow up to reconfirm everything
The meeting will be held at my home in Williamson on Nov 9 11 am to whenever. I will send a pm out to all attending with directions.
Right now there are 3 confirmed people cassady, holli4pirating and Scott, with possibly coachmike and guji if schedule permits.
I have invited a special guest. my barber, he has been a great source of tips and general information regarding razors and used to give shaves with str8's himself. I think he would be a great addition to the group. At this point he has not comfirmed he can make it but will do his best to do so.
Please feel free to bring whatever str8's, hones. strops, soaps, creams ect you want to share or to get advise on. I do have a small workshop with a bandsaw and benchgrinder that I have been working on some restos. If you have any str8's that you would like to discuss resto issues please feel free to bring them along. If you want to shave test any blades please bring along your personal brush for sanitary reasons.
There will be chili and homemade bread and knowing Karen probably some other baked goods to munch on during the day. I will be providing coffee, soda, and some beer. If you have a preferred beverage please feel free to bring that along. (coffee is home roasted and ground)
Also if you are into cigars please feel free to bring a few and we can have a cigar swap.
Please feel free to bring along the ladies if they are interested in attending.
There will also be a gift for all attending. This is a thank you for all who attend
I look forward to seeing everybody on the 9th.
Joe

Joe and Karen: Thanks for doing so much of the legwork and playing such a gracious host.
I'd mentioned it to Joe in PM's but perhaps others would like to know as well; in addition to shaving gear, I'll be bringing along a few cigars in my travel humi, a growler of something dark (black lagar, porter, or stout).
If there is any interest, I could also bring along some samples of pipe tobacco; I've got several of the house blends from the Dewey Ave Smoke Shop.
