Thanked: 335Ron,
Not one to tell others how to run their lives, but... how about telling the in-laws that you can help the little dear move any day but Saturday the 22nd of August, and you're really sorry you may have erred with the dates?
It's probably too late to have it work, but the concept would seem to be flawless had it been applied about a month ago.

Thanked: 335Yo Midwstern Scratchers of Face
Others have tried to do it: others have succeeded marginally. We're talking photos here. Showing to those that hope to be what they who are there already look like.
I'll bring a digital whatsits, squint and squeeze type gizmo thing-a-ma-bob. Anyone know how to get the whatever out of the camera and straight onto the razor type place?
Actually, I love technology. A Cat D-10 is a marvelous thing.

Thanked: 995Traffic Update for Thursday: the crossroad turnoff to my place is not closed so the only confusing traffic will be to the north up around Hwy 19. The county Hwy 24 is open for left and right turners.
I'll update again Friday after that, as the Preacher Johnson said in Blazing Saddles "you're on your own".“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.” R.G.Ingersoll

Thanked: 335The road is open, huh? Guess I won't have to bring the D-10 after all.

Thanked: 995I do have some landscaping that needs doing....
Traffic Update: the road is open. I do not know if they are going to increase the level of DOT activity on the weekend. Construction warning signs include 3 miles north of the County Hwy 24 crossroad, which is where you want to turn west. But as of 2000 hrs that intersection is open to traffic again.
I'll have a seminar sign out on the county roadside to mark the turn at the driveway. Green street sign, yellow knife sign and there you are.
The coffee arrived and has been ground. It is tempting to have a brew up, but I'll wait until tomorrow.
20-30% chance of rain but we have plenty of room indoors. Drive safe, see you all tomorrow.

Thanked: 3795I am officially not able to come.
I was hoping to be able to to be there at least a couple hours. Along those lines, I had my wife propose to her parents that they could simply call me when they had the truck loaded and were ready to head south. I figured I could go the to the meet-up and when they called, I could take a little time to say my goodbyes, load up my rocks, and hit the road. Well, now they've decided that they intend to be on the road by noon, several hours (and three days) earlier than their original plans. That means there is no way that I can attend.
I'm sorry guys.
(Next year, I'll schedule critical procedures at the Mayo Clinic as a cover story for the next meet-up!)

Wait a minute... I do, I do hear that stentorian voice over the PA system - I must have had the bad ear to the speaker - "code Dalmore Blue, code Dalmore Blue - stat - move it, move it."
Oh, that's what the family is having you do. I can understand the process, tho, as I've always had a pickup and have had the touch put on me many-a-time; I even helped Charlie Mayo move his piano, but that was fun stuff. I still have a truck, but also have this really bad back. I suppose it's too late to use that one too. You need to talk to us earlier in the Shaving Society's event planning process so we can get all your ducks lined up.
good luck, good schlepping,
