You could still come to the Yakima meet!
I hope you make it this year, if last year was any indication it should be a blast.

Port Angeles isn't too far ~6hr

We are having a small one in Yakima this month it is only ~4 hr from you!

    Default I considered it

I thought about Yakima but that far in a diesel truck at the price per gallon that we're seeing would set me back a few hundred to travel. Sure would like to though.

You can always save up your pennies for next year's Spokane meet.

Well, just one week away from Yakima. I am fighting the flu, just had a birthday party for my daughter (who also has the flu) with 30 guests, finals next week and I just broke a tooth. Needless to say I am ready for a razor weekend. I have moved my small lathe to my father's house along with a few of my other tools. I will try to get some other things ready like a brush handle as well as a set of scales. I will also try to get some wood slabbed down to start a set of scales. As of right now I have no stringent plans, just ideas. Glen will be there sunday to isolate and diagnose our honing woes and Saturday I would like to get a little show and tell time. Bring your goodies to activate our hoarding complexes. Bring your stones, bring your trouble razors. Maybe bring an unscaled razor. I don't care what you bring, I will do what I can to address it in some way or we could try to convince Glen to help us.
    See you guys next weekend.

Day one of the Yakima meet went well. Got to meet another Glen from Tri-cities and Gerrit helped me turn a new brush handle that he's donating a black badger knot to make complete. I got a chance to try out Phil Dobsons Kamisori style razor....I need to save up for one of these. Beautiful piece of work. Wish we could have had some more people show up but all in all a really good experience. Looking forward to tomorrow when Glen gssixgun is scheduled to pop in and we can spend somme time discussing honing and restoration issues. D
If any of the other guys in the PNW get a chance Glen gssixgun has the meet scheduled for September in Spokane. It's a great chance to meet up with some of the other folks from the forum and pick up a few tricks here and there.

    C-ya around,
    Michael

Thanks Gerrit I had a great time this weekend with you guys in Yakima. Cant thank you enough for the hospitality and all the info I got. Its was nice to meet everyone in person and getting to shave with Glens Fillharmonica that he brought and honed was a real treat as well as getting his guidence on honing and stroping and the work he did on my razors. I look forward to seeing you guys and others in September. There is nothing like getting in person help for a new guy.

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I am tired, then I think Glen won't be home for two more hours. I hope you all got what you wanted from the meet. I got a lot, unfortunately every time we do this I have a new shopping list.
I have the next week off from school and I will be catching up on back brush orders that I have been neglecting, but in between, when they are turning on my array of epoxy lathes I will be working edges in some new ways, learning Michael's method of lathering, making new honing base and finally finding a new way of clamping my irregular hones; all attempting to ingrain this weekend into my brain.
For those who weren't there I brought about 90% of my gear including a wide array of soaps, creams, razors and some stone including: naniwas, a few coticules, a couple of j-nats, film and diamond sprays. Glenn (rgc58) brought some razors, soaps, splashes, samples to share and his Norton 4/8. Michael (hornm) brought us some of the best shave soap/cream samples in the world (thank you my friend it is much appreciated). And of course Glen brought a dizzying array of stones and razors including that Filarmonic that his coworker had (very nice).
Overall it was a nice weekend and I want to thank you all for sharing your knowledge, products and time. From Glenn I learned to teach my appreciation for this hobby, how much I have learned and to slow down as I process a shave to really enjoy the time. From Michael I learned a new bit of design when it comes to turning brush handles that I have never considered, an approach to lathering that is controlled easy and repeatable and finally I learned that I am not the only one who thought that forums were for nerds before joining SRP...oh, wait. Finally from Glen I learned so much stuff that my head is spinning, but most important for me was the knowledge that I have been creating edges that even Glen likes.

I would also like to add that Wanda really appreciated that you liked her cooking and if any member wonders why I am fat, well...my door is always open.
