Man am I glad I found this thread today. I have been lurking on the site for a few of months now. Trying to research as much as possible as I make the move to manly shaving. I have a couple of old razors coming to me this week that I got off the evilbay. I know this is a no no for my first razor, but I am a sucker. One looks like it has a lot of hone wear, but was cheap so I thought it would be good for reference and to play with. The other blade looked good to my untrained eye but the scales were trash. I will be sending these to a member to be refurbished once I get them. My strop is from Star Shaving. I would love to meet with the group when the Denver get together happens.

Welcome to SRP Scogin. For anybody thinking about trying to attend the get together I have to tell you that I learned more about honing from the time spent with Glen last year than I had in the previous year of flailing around. There is nothing like some hands on in person experience to accelerate the learning process.

So, what is the accepted protocol? Are we allowed to bring razors to show, some to demo honing with, strops, etc..?? Are some bringing stones, etc.?? Problem razors that need an expert eye? Will someone have a magnifier? Am I super curious or what????
Now the real question is... who will do the demo shave???? heheheh.. JK!!
Does the Garlic Knot know what we are planning? Has anyone contacted them?
So it sounds like there will be at least a few of us... Must I ask??? Do they serve beer at the Knot?? Just curious about how much cash I should bring.. Oh ya, that's why we invented plastic.
Ok, I just looked them up, and yep, beer and wine are served at the knot... Just so we know, hehe.

Thanks for the invitation, Glen!
I tentatively plan to be in Denver for the garlic-and-razor shenanigans on July 17th.

Glen,
You can count me as a 'for sure' attendee. Looking forward to doing something new, and hopefully educational and exciting.
Of course, at my age, it doesn't take too much to be exciting these days, heheh.. Actually, just putting a razor to my face every day is kinda of exciting now.
Look for an older, greying guy sitting in a corner. That's probably me!! LOL.
See you there!!
