If I can sell the wife on it, I'll be there. I work in Tysons, so I'm used to the commute from Old Town!!! Perhaps this would be a good chance to get this other Le Grelot dressed!!!
He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

Hey guys. I am looking forward to seeing everyone on October 2nd.

As for the Le Grelot, LegalBeagle, depending on what finish you choose, it is absolutely doable to make your own set of scales during the get together. Heck, if you come for the full duration, you’d even have time to dress a couple of the Le Grelot’s closest friends as well.

I already started making scale blanks for use during the event. I have cocobolo, olivewood, Honduran rosewood, ebony, vitae lignum, mahogany, and a few other woods on hand. I just ordered some ironwood, bloodwood, and buffalo horn to try as well. (Yes, my ADs are expanding out of control!!!) I don’t have any synthetic material as of yet though - I’ll save that AD for another time. :-) If there is something specific you are looking for, let me know and I will try to accommodate.

Again, I am sooooo looking forward to meeting everyone. Should be a terrific time. And with the esteemed Mr. Davis present, wow, we’ll all learn a TON in the process. I hope you all can make it.

I'd like to attend this, if I'm able, as well. I'm up in DC but I'll gladly travel.

Duzzy, we'd love to have you. I hope you can make it. I noticed from another post that you are shaving with your great grandfather's razor. Very cool. If you can bring the razor, I'm sure we'd all enjoy seeing it.

Not shaving with it yet--it's got a good edge but it's not sharp enough. Or maybe it needs a good stropping? If anyone there wants to demonstrate razor honing using it I'd be more than happy to compensate them... (hint, hint)

Duzzy, I'll hone the razor up and spend the entire time you're there teaching you all the facets of honing. You can send the razor right now too if you'd like, so you don't have to wait. Maybe even bring another blade, that's what these events are all about!

PM me if you'd like to send it over early. It's all gratis too of course.

I hope you can make it, I think you'd learn a lot.

I hope to make it indeed.

What, I think, would be even better is if I could drop the razor off in person and maybe bribe a shaving/stropping lesson out of the visit while I'm there? I'll even say, "pretty, pretty please". I just had my third SR shave and it's getting better, but I'm nowhere near proficient at either task (not that I should be at this stage). But--I do have unsteady hands (have since I was a child) and I think acquiring a little more confidence would help that particular uphill battle.

I can pay with beer? Or cake?

Count me in, barring some unforeseen last-minute family emergency. I'll also be up for an review of my stropping technique and an introduction to honing in amongst fellowship with like-minded gents. Can't wait!

This is great. I will definitely try to make it. It will give me a chance to try on my own and then go to some experts with whatever I struggle with. I'd also love to see how you can make scales!!!!
