Looks like a great day.

Thanked: 114I had a blast yesterday! Truly I did. I was bummed when the event ended; I could have tinkered for several more hours easy. Thanks to everyone for coming out and making this a great event, especially to Alan for helping organize and host the gathering. You guys all rock! I haven’t met a SRP member yet that I didn’t instantly feel I could become lifelong friends with. What a great group of guys. You all are welcome back to my garage any time!
Some of you asked me where I bought my materials. There is a guy on ebay named chandleraz2 that sells wood and he happens to sell a 20-piece thin sample set. Each sample piece is roughly 3X6, plenty big enough to make a complete set of scales (I cut them in half and glue the two halves together). And here’s a little secret – he throws in three extra pieces in each bundle. The result is material for 23 scale sets for $20 shipped ($0.87 per set of scales!). There’s another guy on ebay (mysterydoll) that sells a razor repining kit, complete with doming block, hammer, pliers, drill bit, pinstock and washers, and a starter sample of wedge and scale material (he’ll even sell you extra scale material if you say “pretty please”). Lastly, I bought my buffalo horn from mygann, the honey horn from robsbits (make him an offer he can’t refuse), and my ebony from gman.music, all on the bay. Enjoy! (Now, if sharing this information causes a run on these guys and I’m left short on materials for a future project, I know exactly who to call to get some supplies, right guys? :-) )
Thanks again for coming out yesterday! Oh, and special thanks to Bill for posting that picture of me with the dorky safety goggles on! :-)

Thanks again, Brian, and the picture of the safety goggles just goes to further the purpose of the meet up. You were teaching guys the right way to do things - safety first!
You were a top-notch host, and hopefully one of these days I can link up with you again to put some scales on my project...He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

Thanked: 1Thank you Brian and Alan for organizing this get together. It was a nice relaxing evening and I'm glad I was invited.
A big thanks to Alan and Jerry, who without being asked, took up the feeble, sputtering torch that was my $5.00 Thrift Shop buy and attempted to take it from a chainsaw to a smooth cutting edge. And thank you Brian for grinding the chip out of the blade.
There were probably other things I should have learned, and more things I should have done; but I guess that's what next time is for yes? Thanks again everyone.

Thanked: 114Looks great, Jon. I wasn't sure how the light horn would turn out - I received the material just a few days before the event and hadn't had a chance to try it out yet myself. Thanks for testing it for me. :-) I think you did a terrific job. More importantly, I'm glad you enjoyed making it. Maybe at the next event (if I'm lucky enough to host) we can finish the work on the on the blade itself.

Thanked: 114Hey guys. I found a pair of sunglasses in the garage tonight. Nobody here claims them as their own. Did any of you lose a pair by any chance?
