I had considered northwestern ontario , but I didnt think there was anywhere in ontario 2 days away ....
I do know that it took me longer to get out of ontario than it took to get across the rest of Canada.
Anyways nice to hear from another canadian!

Thanked: 3225Yea, most "Southerners" don't realize how big Ontario really is. As a result it almost seems nothing past North Bay exists when dealing with the Provincial Government. Leaves you feeling just a bit isolated. When I said 2 days I meant 8 hour days but you can do it in 1 day driving like stink and dodging moose and transports for 14 hours. I am no longer that foolish. OTH Winnipeg is only 8 hours drive west. Anyways, enough moaning and dripping, you guys have fun.

Thanked: 993My fiance and I drop up to visit my grandparents last year. Two live in Sioux Lookout, and one lives in Fort Frances. On the way home we did Fort Frances to South Bay (on Manatoulin Island) in 16 hrs (including the time change).....man that was a loooonnnnnggg day.

Know what you mean and I bet you are one of the few that know. We go through the Fort on our way to Yellowstone. I have only been to Sioux Lookout as a refueling/lunch break on a SAR looking for a missing plane from there many years ago. If you are going through again let us know and maybe we can have a coffee together. That goes for any other "Southerners" who might get lost and find themselves up here too.

Good to know that the north will be represented at the meeting. You know the difficulty getting around from here then too. I always irked me that almost half the cost of airfare to Europe was just getting to TO. So that is not a good option for travel to TO either. Being here has it's advantages though, not much of a high speed rat race. Worked all my life a 10 minute drive from work and no traffic jams.

That's a pet peave of mine as well. Costs more for a ticket, if it's not on sale, to fly in Canada, than it does to fly to Europe!
Porter airlines has sales on from the Sault to Toronto. I've been watching the sales for my parents because my Dad comes down here to see a doctor. It makes it a little better, but still not reasonable IMO.

You got a point there alright, it is not just a problem for those living in NWO but nationally as well. Even when the expense of flying to get medical treatment is covered you still have the expense up front out of pocket and can wait a long time to get finally reimbursed after filing a claim. Speaking of Porter, I think I would use them for a shopping visit as they use the Island Airport. Just too convenient.

I will try to make this one, at least for a while. My daughter has her recital that evening, so I'll have to behave myself.
