Sad news indeed. I met Obie for the first at a razor meet in Wisconsin many years ago. Utopian, Geezer, and I were conducting the honing sessions. Obie brought me 2 Hess 44 razors to hone for him. After that Obie was off and running! :)
His voice was so classical and suave that I swore that if he had sold life insurance door to door he would have become a millionaire. :) The guy had talent in many ways.
    I will miss him.

Well that's a shock. So sorry to hear of Obie's passing.

I never had the privilege to meet him but interacted peripherally here. I always found him to be epicurean in his tastes and sophisticated in his thoughts and endeavors. He truly seemed to be filled with joie de vivre. The world is at a deficit in his absence.

My condolences to his loved ones and I regret to hear of his passing. Te salud signóre. Travel well.

I spoke with Obie a few times, bought a razor from him, what a real gent, I'm shocked and sad, what a loss of a fine man.

Today I'm going to shave with the razor i bought from him, I hope he sees and smiles.

I am very saddened by Obie's passing. He was very kind to help me get started with straights about ten years ago. We were the same age and in Vietnam at the same time, and shared a love for jazz and classical music, and writing with a fountain pen. I enjoyed his first two books and am happy to see that his third was published last year. I've purchased a few razors from him, and he from me. We frequently emailed each other and occasionally talked on the phone. I haven't talked to him in over a year as I was tied up with illness in my family, which I'm now regretting. I'm going to miss my dear friend, one of the kindess persons I've known.
