Stev I know there are several members here that use head blade products. I've used their razors for head shaving since 1999. I have tried several of the models. For me the sport three blade is the best. Saying that needs to be followed with they do not compare IMO to DE an straights. But yes for a super fast smooth dome they are my go to. They also have really good products such as lotion, head wash, scrub etc. Their grooming kit is great quality an travels with me every trip.

Thanked: 20To bad they don't do a DE! I also shower shave my head, and recently got some headslick. really great stuff, very convenient to smear on. gets the job done. before that I was having to mush up some proraso, and it was hard to get the ratio right, and not use too much.

Thanked: 4I tried the ATX but didn't have the success I've had with the sport (push blade model). For some reason, with the wheels out front I had a harder time getting close around my ears and then there's the dent where my skull meets my neck! That area was impossible to get BBS with the ATX. I researched other replacement blades to try and keep the cost down. I don't like more than two blades due to the clog factor so I use Gillette Sensor carts. Still expensive compared to DE's but the quick shave is what I'm after during the week, but it still needs to be as close to BBS as possible. The hair on my head grows in every direction so multiple passes are a must. I have to admit the ATX looks hit me like a raised 4x4 compared to the sport...... like it would climb over a weeks worth of growth, no wheel spin with that tread pattern even with Cremo.

I've used a HeadBlade off and on for quite a while now. I tend to prefer the Mach3 though. I think I have all of the shavers still somewhere. Including one with no wheels.
It is a great tool and is easy to use once you get the hang of it.So I drive a station wagon , what of it ? ( www.lxforums.com )

I've owned two years ago and maybe it was me, but they appeared poorly made and didn't provide that much control to be shaving my head. I thin I gave each one of the two one shave and stopped. Also they had construction issue (molded plastic with rickety moving parts) and didn't hold up well, another turn off. But, I'd be curious to see what 2016 offerings for headblades are?

Thanked: 375tried a head blade once...I cut myself
DE's for me. I did enjoy their Matte lotion though, and although their headslick worked really well, the scent of it was a no go for me.CHRIS

Not that you can't cut yourself with the Headblade if you use too much pressure. But once you get used to using it, cuts should be extremely rare or practically non-existent. After a short learning curve I found I didn't cut myself any longer. It's all in using a light touch. Just like with DEs. I have no doubt others use DEs with great success for head shaves. But it seemed no matter how many times I tried, I would still occasionally get the odd cut or slice with a DE whereas I never do with the Headblade anymore. To each his own I would say!

So Sunday of last week I decided to try my Edwin Jagger with Feather blades on the old noggin instead of the ATX from HeadBlade that I have used for about 3 years. With the HeadBlade I just lather up in the shower and do one ATG pass right out of the gate with no issues.
I don't know why I thought that I could just do a single ATG with the DE just like the HB. I've never done it on my face, although I use a straight now. Needless to say. I made a pretty bloody mess of my head. Lot's of little nicks and one good size scrape on the top of the dome where I have a scar from losing a fight with guy who brought a baseball bat to a fist fight. So I alum blocked the @#$% out of my head and let it heal.
Tried again this morning using the same shave routine I use on my face. Hot shower, homemade oil, lathered up with my badger brush and some Taylor of Old Bond and did a gentle and slow WTG pass. Then re-lathered for an ATG pass. No cuts - couple of spots I need to pay attention to blade angle but all in all a comfortable and nicely close shave. Followed up with my standard Burt's Bees Radiance Lotion. (I like this because it gives my head a little shine. I use to use the HeadBlade head lube glossy but at 8.50 a bottle - seriously? I opt for this product from Burt's Bees and I like the ingredients list...and the price.)
I don't have anything against the HB - I've used it for a number of years. I'm just tired of paying the ridiculous cost of replacement blades.
I'm sold on the DE for head shaving - but I'm not sure I'll try the straight for quite some time.
