Honestly, I bought the cheapest alum block that I could find on eBay. I bought 3 blocks. Just awesome. Next time I buy some (which will be because I drop & smash them, not because they wear away) I'm going to go for, maybe, the second cheapest.

Thanked: 2I shave my head with a King of Shaves disposable cartridge razor (2 passes) or my Merkur 37C with a Feather blade (just the 1 pass required) and use whichever shave soap I'm using on my chin with my straights, usually Mitchells Wool Fat or Proraso "green". After a cold water rinse I rub a small amount of E45 moisturiser on, works for me.

Thanked: 1185I must admit here lately the DE rotation has came out much more often for both face and dome. I must confess the Merkur 37C is a fine tool. However, today's Sunday shave and haircut was with a straight. I guess it just depends on my mood and/or time constraints.
