jelajemi....I was being a bit facetious, so let me just say that I do agree with
nun2sharp and bigspender: you really don't need much more than a good
barber hone, as long as the razor edge remains undamaged, to maintain a
decent shaving edge.
For 16 years, I lived on a small remote Pacific island, and for all that time
I kept my razor in pretty good order using only a Swaty 3-line hone, a small
translucent Arkansas stone, and an Illinois 827 strop.
It wasn't until I got back here to "The Big PX" that RAD/HAD set in.

Glen is right, too. There's lots of nice stuff out there, and some of it really
does make for a better shave, but it's easy to go overboard. It took me
awhile to understand what KISS meant, as far as shaving gear is concerned.
Good luck.

I too am using barber's hones to keep my razors' edges in good shape and order. I also use them sometimes as a finish hone.
Moreover, when I travel I always bring with me a Swaty hone. You never know. The RazorGuy - StraightRazorChannel on Youtube and Google+

Still keep a Swaty by the bathroom sink. If I didn't sharpen a bucket load of knives each month; I doubt I'd have bought all the Kings and Nortons. I have used mostly 2 razors for the last 45yrs and the Swaty keeps them just fine. Tried the 8K and 12K stones, use 0.5u chromeOx. Seems to me that I still get a great shave with the Swaty and lots of stropping on plain leather.
I do enjoy the ongoing debates about what you guys use to achieve sub-atomic particle finishes. Everybody needs a hobby.
