    Both
What grit is the Nagura, if it produces a finer slurry will it help the King 1200 to cut better?
Not sure of grit but a diamond plate guarantees you 1200 grit on a 1200 stone which does cut faster than the Nagura IME.
The King Nagura comes with their 8k stone.

I found a Knife place that sells diamond credit card sharpeners; they are 1"x3" Dual sided 320 and 800. I'm just wondering if 1" will be wide enough. One place has Arkansas, so I will also look into that.
You could lay the 3" length across the stone for consistency. I've done this in the past but it is fiddly.

    Thanks

One more point on 'pressure' The synthetic Nagura that comes with the King 8k is very crumbly & will break off some larger particles that will scratch your bevel & possibly cause microchipping if you press too hard on it.
I particularly dislike that nagura on the Shapton Pro's. Makes honing feel like rubbing the razor on a gravel road , even when rinsed off. Had to use the Atoma to regain my surface. Didn't seem to have that problem with the Kings in the past

What's the best alternative to create slurry without having to mail order something? Would just a normal smooth rock work?

A cheap small diamond hone would do, rub it with some steel first to make sure it won't loose any diamonds.

Search for Amazon in Germany or Switzerland and you should be able to find a Coarse DMT Credit Card Sized 'hone' that will work fine to make slurry. As mentioned rub it against a piece of steel to dislodge any loose diamonds that could become a problem. They are about $12.00 USD.

    I hope this helps!
