For sale locally
This is for sale at the moment, eventually i hope to be able to do my own razor maintenance. Is this worth considering? As advertised: "This is the Cut Throat Razor Improved Metallic Hone and is 300mm long. Has Grinding, Finishing, Stropping and Setting sides."

Thanked: 202Interesting description. I would not bother but that is my opinion. Stick to tried and tested unless you have too much dosh and can afford to waste it.

A pic would be nice, but I think I'd pass on it. I agree with the above post. If your starting out, Get something of known quality, Something you can get advice on. The Norton's are always a good way to go.

Thanked: 4827I have no idea what that is, however it might be a cool collectable item to have and to hold, nothing to do with using it for your straight razor.

Thanked: 1184Sounds like it has an electric cord too ! Sorry my imagination runs wild ,if there are no pics, my mind makes one up. There is always something about an ad that starts out "Cut Throat " that rubs me the wrong way also. Is there anybody in here that would say that ?
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

It is in quite common use in New Zealand and Australia too I think.

Thanked: 580Cut throat is what they were, and still are, called down here, may be a reference to the razor gangs of the 20's when it was legal to carry a razor but illegal to carry a knife or gun, so naturally, a weapon of choice.
FrankD, i have a similar item, and it works very well, although this is related to the condition of the item also, eg, not too carved up by previous owner. One side is a hone, and the other three are leather, two of them are basically pasted strops. If the price is right, i would say go for it.Last edited by Grazor; 09-02-2013 at 08:45 AM.
