I think the small one is Betsu Ju (別上).
Tierdaen, is that correct?

Betsujyou has been translated as "Superior selected grade" but I'm not sure I like that translation. Further, I haven't seen much that offers any real indication of stone quality in those stamps and they seem very general like "best quality" stickers on Chinese electronics. With Asano nagura you know that those grades have a meaning with regard to whiteness and shape, but for base stones they don't seem anywhere near as consistent.

Thanked: 18Follow up: because of your help I was able to negotiate this down significantly. It's a very, very nice stone with a 'silky' feel.
I have to say, I've had remarkable 'pure dumb' luck w/eBay stones.
