I am not a slurry guy, but my progression that is truly failsafe is a Shapton GS progression to 16K and finished on water only Escher. Yes, it's going backwards a little on "grit", but it works for any type of razor no matter if it's English or U.S. steel. On a natural finisher I will wet it well and hone with slow and light strokes, until the stone is just damp and not wet...this takes me about 50 strokes on my Escher. Stay with that stone for at least 20 or so finishes and it will reveal what works best.

Thank you and God Bless, Scott
