Thanked: 498Believe me I wish no bad luck to our hero here. My logic is simple . If I buy a prime rib dinner I will be damn sure I will eat prime rib. This was a 70 crap shoot on a rock that has no id. Could it be the rock of all rock? Sure. It just wouldnt be a gamble that I would play. With the same dough you could get a rock that you know 100% its grit and capabilities.

I'll shut up now.

Thanked: 202Everything bad is good for something. Everybody who has balls to stand up time from time takes risks and obviously sometimes looses. It is part of the game.
As for what your hone is better pictures and description is required. As it was so fa described black and on my laptop it looks black I would hope for black surgical arkie or slate type hone. I bet that would grind smile on your face straight away.

The guys whom dare to take a crap shot at an unknown hone are the heroes in this game.
If it turns out to be a good hone it will stay around as a good hone for razors, knives or tools.
If nobody buys them they may end up as landfill.
To play on the safe side and only buy known hones and pay them in full is to me boring.
You win some, you lose some but it sure is fun!Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.

Considering the colour and the perfect cut shape I would expect it to be a surgical black arkansas as well.

Thanked: 3164Probably the bit that fell off the bottom when it was hit by lightning:
If you are lucky, you might find some of the missing commandments be on it:
11. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's hone, especially if it appears on the Bay of all Evil.
12. Thou shalt remember the holy blue-spotted greenstone, and keep it Holy.
13. Honour the Holy Trinity - DMT
14. Keep Darl away from sharp things, only a lowly spoon shall he use.
15. Thou shalt not confuse seafood like clams with money.
There are others, but its getting pretty warm in here (is the basement on fire?) and I think I can feel the rumble of thunder from those black clouds that have just rolled across the heavens, casting all into darkness...
Regards,
Neil
