Tom - that reminds me of the story (it might be apocryphal for all I know, but it closely follows the parable of Our Lord Jesus) about Darl feeding his followers at Society Hill in Philly. Turns out he fed five men with five thousand pies and two hundred bottles of ketchup...

I'm still thinking synthetic, however I can't pass up the thought it could be an Arkansas stone...but not a black. I do strongly feel that it is an American stone simply due to the measurements. I looked at the pics on the bay and they are pretty good. I have no doubt that it could be a polisher (6-8K)...but a finisher I am not sure about. I hope it's a miracle hone for you and you produce super edges off it no matter what it ends up being...
