I say that looks like a Black Translucent. I have one that is jet Black and Translucent. I also have 3 other Black stones that are not translucent. One of my favorite Black stones is a Blue/Gray color.

Trans Arks rock. If you enjoy honing and want a smooth yet sharp finish and want an affordable hone, these are great, at least the one I use. Very underated in my opinion.

Sad to see but how big is the bigger broken piece. Hopefully its still a useable size. That shapton looks like some kind of abstract glass art but I am sure thats not what you want it to be.

Brighty83: Wow, that's a real bummer! Perhaps you can epoxy the Arkansas stone back together? Is it an inch thick? There looks to be plenty of surface area for a good bond.

Well, finally lapped and fixed the all the edges after the break.

    Its a nice palm sized surgical black, measuring 5.25" x 2" x 1" and the smaller stone 2" x 2" x 1"

    Any ideas on what i can use a 2" x 2" x 1" SB Arkansas for? lol

    Brighty83,

    You could use the 2" x 2" x 1" for pocket-knives (using a circular motion) ?

    Have fun !

    Best regards

Jimmy, I gotta tell you I just enjoyed the heck out of that picture. The forstner bit marks in the lily white box made my day: you can really SEE the guy working who made that box!
