Thanked: 156"Mississippi bicolor honing stone" need info
I found a bicolor honing stone that kind of looked like a coticule+ bbw combo...only difference is that the bbw is brown...but looks and feels the same as a bbw.
the yellow part is most certanly a coticule.
I am prity excited about this stone..just hope it's not that bad.
I will post photos soon.

In my opinion, you have a very nice natural combination Coticule!
The BBW side can be from black to a light maroon and still be a good hone.

Thanked: 156I had the same feeling good sir
I have anoter coti/bbw combo and the coticule sluries, feels ans sharpens the same as this one... the bbw has shiny patterning if you hold it at an angle to the light...same as the brown part.
The only diffrence betwen the bbw and this brown stone is that the cristal pattern on the brown one seems more refined...smaller...but they slury and feel the same when sharpening...it leaves a finer abrasion pattern then the bbw...so i feel it is a bit smaller grain...
I guess i just wanted reinforcements for my initial feeling that it's a coti/bbw combo.
I'm starting to feel good about me spending the equivalent of 7 bucks on this one...it's not a big stone 12x4cm but i'm glad about it.Last edited by ovidiucotiga; 11-17-2013 at 05:52 PM.

Thanked: 3215Very nice natural Coticule, the BBW should slurry purple. I have some that are on the maroonish side. A Vosigene is more brownish slurry.
It may be it is dirty, soak in some dish soap and see if it releases any oils, scrub with a scotch brite sponge. Simple Green works well also. When you lap it, it may turn more purple.
More importantly what is the edge it produces like?
Nice find, enjoy.

I bet there is a lot of vintage shaving equipment in Romania, I don't think we have very many members from Romania. That was a great grab.
Thanks for sharing it.
