    Default Changing stone preference

I have always been a fan of the Jnat hone. The first one I bought was from old_school. It was a Nakayama Maruichi Asagi.
I had it evaluated by two well known honemeisters and the basic opinion I received was " Do not ever sell this hone". I still have this hone based on that advice.

For several years I also kept a Light Green Escher on the pile but rarely used it. And recently I have decided to justify the purchase of this Escher by finishing some razors on it.

Times change and apparently so does stone preference. As it stands now, I would just as soon shave off an Escher than a jnat . At any rate, it has kicked up my enjoyment of honing razors.

    Jerry,

I also have stones from OS and was given the same advice as you. One Maruichi and one Maruka. One very similar to yours if I'm not mistaken. I still use them from time to time, especially on Sheffield razors.

Like you, I eventually gravitated towards the Escher. It was my go to finisher for some time. Now that I have the Suehiro 20k, I've been using it quite a bit.

I never get tired of the Escher though. I touched up a razor on it last night.

Have you ever gone from the G20k to the Escher. I have tried that this week and have no complaints. Not sure if it is doing any good but it certainly doesn't hurt the 20k edge.

I might add that the Escher stone is the Chairman of the Board at the "Facerbaters" Club. Ha!

I guess it's like when you were a kid and found an old toy you hadn't played with for a long time.
