Thanked: 284I'm humbled by a lot of nice ones like Matt and Bill's in this thread. Even though mine are super simple, like Bill said they are time intensive to get good detail.

Thanked: 45As mentioned above, I also remove the hones from the boxes while in use. I should add that the magnet method is probably not a good idea if you leave the stone in the box while honing. The magnets are very strong and could grab the razor.

Thanked: 2027Your hone boxes are drop dead beautiful, as are matts. It saddens me at times that most do not realize how much time and effort is expended to create one of a kind pces.
I used to make loom strops,They took 25/40 hrs to make,do not make them anymore.sold every one I ever made.
Someone wants a custom Brush? lots of exotic materials, very complex build,$40 Knot, they balk at $100 shipped.
Keep up the custom work guys, down the road nobody will be doing this stuff anymoreCAUTION

Thanked: 284Funny you should say that. I was looking at a couple old hones for sale the other day, completely dished out, and in what you could tell were homemade boxes, often with their names carved in it. I remember thinking that it was neat to realize that someone probably cherished that stone and had it for probably their whole life.
Sometimes it's those accessories or personalizations that give a neat history to these objects.

Thanked: 4826I also love making boxes. They do take a long time, even simple boxes. I am intrigued by the concept of this thread. There have been some cool ideas brought forward and some great workmanship. Thanks guys.

I just love to see the creativity and skill of SRP members! GREAT JOB. WOW!
State v. Durham, 323 N.W. 2d 243, 245 (Iowa 1982) (holding that a straight razor is per se a "dangerous weapon").
