There are many slates of different characteristics available in UK. What is the size?

    Looks to be welsh slate.

You can get 3 in a bulk pack off ebay pretty cheap.

The size is not helping much for ID either.

If the slurry is purple it could be a Llyn Melynllyn (Yellow Lake). Mine is roughly 10k. It works with water or oil

That would have been nice but the slurry is a pale gray. I thing it might be a slate but it's much finer than my DT. Not bad for the price 50p (84 cents)

Reminds me a bit on the Silkstone i have...talking about black and grey slates its really difficult to differ because there are several
stones around (Dragons Tongue, Yellow Lake, Silkstone, etc...).....

    Yellow Lake before lapped:

Silkstone lapped (has fine silk like layers, when surface is wet):

if it's finer then the Dragon Tongue it could be the third in this 3 stone package (stil don't realy know how to call that stone) this third one is usually lighter then the DT but these stones all have a varience in color.

I've had a go with it and it didn't quite make it. It was taking arm hairs but not as easly as it might.

That settles it, must be one of those POS hones, common as muck!
