    Taller and heavier is good if you are going to place them on a table to hone. I rather like palm honing, so thinner works fine for me.

    You need to take some time and be honest with yourself before you make it. How you use it will be the most important factor. If you can't palm hone, you'll need taller. That or something to rase it up a bit.

    Note too that you can just as easily glue a thinner rock to a piece of brass which you can easily pick up at a hardware store rather than a DMT.

    I picked up a tile saw/water cooled at Lowes for 50 bucks, comes with 2 diamond blades, its worked freat for last 5 years
