Well, I honed up a dubl duck special no.1 on it, 1k jns > bbw >coticule and it does a great job, not the closest shave ive ever had but it shaves comfortably. The yellow coticule blackens the slurry in only a few passes and has a lot more feedback than my other hones...almost like my 1k jns with a slurry. I will add the coticule to my rotation for sure, I am very pleased with it! Probably will follow it up with my T. Noonan & Co "Modock" hone ( I honestly like the shaves off the modock better than my Y/G or blue Thuringians). I'll have to see how it goes.
The bbw removed the JNS 1k scratches very fast and doesnt leave a deep scratch pattern at all.

Wet the purple shows more but looks more brown with a hint of purple dry, definitely a natural in person you can see the striations. I am pretty sure I can shave off the darker side, it cuts pretty quick but leaves almost no scratch pattern....gotta dig out a wider beveled razor though and give it a run, my 15x loupe isnt the best but good enough for checking bevel set.
