    Honestly, a great response . . . but . . . in reality, you're original comment offered neither.

The original comment was meant to focus on something all of us have experienced: a nearly insane level of anticipation, whether for a Zulu, a razor, brush.....anything that has AD associated with it For the record I had a similar level of anticipation for the Zulu. It came, I used it, and I gave it away for multiple reasons. I see that Michael is talking about offering 'new hones.' This will be a thread worth following. Sorry you were offended by my 'wit.' And yes it is mine....often not suitable for the thin of skin.

No worries WW234. I honestly didn't take offense to it - I was just trying to shoot it down so I could keep the thread on topic. As you know, threads can diverge very quickly so I was hoping to keep it focused on how many have had the same issue and I hoped to collect input from their experiences / resolutions. Like Detective Sergeant Joe Friday, "just the facts."

I have to admit, I have a pretty dry personality. Sorry if I came off as an @ss.

I ordered in February and emailed Mike several months later and he promptly sent my order out and threw in a 6x2 in addition to my 8x3 - both with perfectly sized slurry stones.

My stone appeared very flat from the factory but after a few passes on my SGDLP it was not. These hones are incredibly hard and lapping mine to spec with the Shapton took forever. It has become my favorite finisher by far and I'm able to get very sharp smooth edges from it. I don't use any post honing antics with pastes either - just a lot of stropping. One thing is that it's a very slow stone - so be patient and expect to spend a good half hour milking out the best possible edge.

It's definitely worth the wait. Superb finish on the stone, mine was perfectly flat with no need to lap. Still learning the stone, but it feels really nice on the razors.
    Regarding patience.
The best quote I heard was from a waiter in Turkey 26 years ago. When I asked where my meal was after waiting 3 hours his reply....."Rising like the sun!!" Still I enjoyed the 2 bottles of wine whilst waiting which never appeared on the bill.
