Snagged this off ebay today...figured it was worth a gamble, saw marks seemed like a good indicator to me as well as the possibly whiteish dried slurry so made an offer and they swapped it to bin for me, description is this:
VINTAGE VINTAGE RAZOR ,KNIFE, TOOL SHARPENING HONE 14" x 1" x 1 5/8".NO CHIPS ,GREY IN COLOR VERY SMOOTH

Need ID
Looks like a slate of some sort to me. Lapping it and cleaning it up a little would help with the ID. That's a nice long stone whatever it is.

I figured it was worth. $50 gamble for sure, ill definitely get more pics up when I receive it and more after I lap it.
I'd be heartbroken if it happens to be a 14" thuringian.

why heartbroken? If you do determine it's thuri-esque, just send it to me. I'll relieve you of your heart ache.

Picked a droescher recently that had that look, in person it looked like a dark blue till I lapped it....turns out its a very light green, worst part of getting these hones is the waiting game, if it is a thuri I'll be ecstatic.
We can play the prediction game..
My guess is a light blue thuri

Thanked: 4826My guess is that horse shoe ought to be getting a little uncomfortable by now.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Hahahahahahaha...my wife asked me why I was laughing so hard, I had to explain.
Anyways, the horse shoe isnt uncomfortable other than being a little heavy wearing it hanging from my neck, I thought maybe id hurt its luck by restoring it and giving it a mirror shine but instead it has only improved lately.
