    I have purchased several of the $5 Gold Dollars. Most of them were OK. A couple needed some heel geometry correction. After correction and honing, they all turned out to be excellent shavers. I'm still amazed by these critters. They are as good as some of my $100-$200 brand name razors. I would recommend them for beginning honers before practising on an expensive razor. Anyway, learning how to spot and correct defects in geometry is also not a bad thing for beginning honers to learn. JMO

    The last thing a beginning honer needs to trouble himself with, is a razor's geometric defect,,, that's why many do not endorse those "Critters".

    My sentiments exactly, that's like trying to teach a fifth grader quantum mechanics with out teaching him to multiply and divide first.
