Just off the bay. I think it's s thuri. Green color. If you think it's something else please let me know.

from the sides I would say - could be a thuringian - but the view on the end does not fit for a thuri.
How hard is the stone? Can you post some pictures wet and the surface more detailed!

Now that is a stone! I await hatzicho's verdict but I will bet you have a 12k+ finisher.

Hard to say from the pix. Bottom line is it either delivers the goods or it doesn't ....... whatever you name it.

I have a few named George! the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. No history but fine finishers!
Check the hone for acidity. One of mine is very acid using the local well water, and will really show up any pits with bright orange in a few passes. On it I use water with baking soda in it. Keeps the corrosion down. Now I use it on all my hones when not using tap water directly. I learned from a Japanese blade article.

Never heard of this before, but it makes sense, good advice! Don't think I have any acidic stone so far on my HAD!
