Here is a vintage Turkish oilstone I used to have.
I don't think your stone is a Turkish oilstone, but it does look like some type of novaculite.

Long narrow Turkey in a box?--never seen one. Not a Hindostan IMO. More like a funky Charnwood, if not petrifiedwood. Nice and soft when lapping?--maybe not a Charnwood. How about some daylight shots of the stone with balanced light in the shade? Hard to make sense of it given the harsh lighting in the pix so far.
