    Default Droescher stone

I picked this stone up at the local antique store I frequent the most. Been there a few weeks but today I decided to buy it. The name was Droescher. I had a feeling it was a natural stone instead of a synthetic.

Is this a decent stone? On the opposite side it has a few scratches and I can feel with my fingernail. How should I take care of those?

Very nice stone. I have no info about it since I have never owned one, but for 12.50 I would have picked it up no matter my reservations about it.

I don't know anything about Droeschers, but it looks like a nice stone. If you can get some photos of it out of the box, side shots too,, then it really helps the guys that do know.

For sure I was just in the car and took a quick pic. Will take a few more when I get home

I have 2 D.R. Droescher 5/8 razors, the Classic & Gold Bug. Both are extra hollow "singing" razors equal quality to Dubl Duck razors. Both are top notch quality so I would assume a Droescher stone "back in the day" was also top quality, so clean it up and try it out. You have a top quality vintage finishing hone.

You are very probably correct in that it is a natural. They usually come with a slurry stone. Leave the scratches on the other side! They suggest that your stone is a Thuringian as are Escher's and some others.
Get it flat then use it. Enjoy!

Great find! I have a very similar blue-grey Droescher stone and its performance is identical to my best blue Escher.

    Congratulations!

Good find. From all my understanding it is a graded Thurri such as, and possibly from, Escher.

Quite possible. Take photos of both sides and the ends if there are saw marks on them. If they are smooth it won't really reveal anything.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
