I don't think so, the Norton is a barber hone I believe, all the ones I've seen have NORTON molded into them - and I've never seen one with a rubbing stone - but someone else more familiar will be able to give you a definite answer.

Also, is this an intentional Rube act? Do you live in Foster?

No rube act. Googled the meaning of that an no it is not. Just because you like and collect something does not mean you know all About it. I have never shaved with strait razor or sharpened anything more than my buck knives for hunting and dexter filet knives for fishing. and only know what little I do about stones and hones because I buy every single one I see regardless of cost or if I know what type etc. I just negotiate as best I can and buy. If I don't like it I just simply sell them and keep the best looking and nicest condition ones for myself to simply look at and own. The rest I list in eBay or Craigslist as lots just to get rid if them since I typically pay about $2 each. I also look at auction results in eBay by highest price and look for those stones. Again doesn't make me an expert just able to find stuff that others cannot. (Or someone that is trying to swindle you for anything) I'm not buying or selling anything here? I simply was looking for info in exactly what I have and what to hold onto an what to look for in future instead of buying everything. Sorry you think that.

I have asked a couple people about it and they say no as well but looks identical to the norton. The one I had did have norton molded into it but didn't know if I branded. Feels and looks the same

I don't know what I think yet. But I noticed a few auctions on eBay by a user named Mike, from Foster, RI and he appears to know the value of the items he is selling fairly well by the starting bid in the auctions. Is this you?

I guess it seems difficult for me to believe that you had never heard of many of these stones before if you have been buying, selling and collecting them for some time. Having heard of the seemingly fabled Norton barber hone but not an Escher (also pretty famous) etc. seems a bit far-ferched to me, but anything is possible I suppose.

On the hone depicted above - many barber hones were sold, but there were only so many makers of the hones, many were very similar or identical but sold under different labels and brand names. You may well have a hone very similar or even identical to the Norton but sold by a different company in slightly different form - but without the name nobody will pay Norton barber hone levels of money for it. Those Norton barber hone guys are fanatical about that stone.

I am this person. I have heard of norton Escher etc. heck I owned both I them.. Anything in a box with a name on it is easily identified by me. I don't need any help identifying something with the name on it. It was the loose stones I wonder about. Many stones look like others and then you feel them and can tell they are not same. And I have only as of today sold one of my stones. The norton. I just buy. You can look on eBay was in October for $585. I was looking through them all over the weekend and said I'm going to get rid of all of the loose ones that are dorty and don't look that good to me and research and keep the best ones. I also don't collect wood boxed ones so all those are going. You Definately
Won't see any of my nice boxed ones on there. I'll always start my eBay auctions high and then if don't sell drop the price. I do have an idea of what everything sells goes for because I reaeaecg the auctions pretty thoroughly and base my price in that. I also have a world class fishing fly collection that I have been buying for a few years and don't know jack about fly fishing and think we have one river here in ri to fly fish. Have been told the collection is world class but doesn't make me an expert and lose sometimes too. There are people with one fly and one stone that are more knowledgable than me.. That being said I am great at marketing/sales as that's what I do for a living.. I can recognize most stones when they are hard Arkansas and now see I have a few that look just like the Escher..

It was nice just to take these out of the box and check em out..has been a while since I looked at most of these. I have my eye on one for lots of $$ and want to buy but also have too many. I plan on getting rid of the ones not too valuable and keep about 10-20 stones in total. I have already learned more about them since last night than over last few years. I have been checking out other posts and great info here. I am hoping to one day be able to recognize a stone type and even region it came from just by looking/touching and not need the box it came in..

Lol, I think you started your researching a bit late, but you're off to a good start by registering here. Check out some of the other boards as well, not everyone posts on all the boards, and there are a lot of knowledgeable folks at the different message boards. Badger & Blade, Razor & Stone, bladeforums, etc. are all good resources.
