Thread: dragons tongue ?'s

No the Dragon's tongue isn't one
No the Slate one isn't a finisher
No the Grit numbers are "Koolaid" but I told ya that already
No a real Dragon's Tongue is even lower down the scale
No the Slate or "WHIG" version of the DT is not a finisher either
The Green or the Purple Slates aka WHIG's are at least finishers
No I do not believe the one stone system works well without a 1K bevel setter to get the edge inline
No I would not recommend a One stone system for "Thrift" store or E-bay razors you need a 1k

Buying an inexpensive stone that will not do what you need it to is a waste of money


Next question - Could I make it work ???

Yes, I could make it work as seen on the original thread about 1 stone honing, I could probably even use a Synth Nagura and set a bevel with it, but it is easier to buy a King 1k for $24 and do it right


There is what I think, but it is after all your money, and your time, so I can only give suggestions as to how not to waste either..

ps: Yes I own all 4 stones in question and have used all 4

A Dragon's Tongue from Indigo Jones
A Grey WHIG aka Slate DT
A Greenish WHIG aka Welsh Thuringen
A Purpleish WHIG

If you insist on buying one get the Green or the Purple at least they are finishers
