The Only Way To Find Out is to Shave with the blade off of the Cnat!

I have a friend who uses a USB Microscope and he found that while the edge was more 'polished' looking and the Cnat wasn't he likes the shave off of the Cnat better.

so i got a cnat at Woodcraft today and lapped it with 320 wet dry. gave it a try with slurry and ended with a cloudy edge(under a 30x loupe). haven't shaved with it.
would the 320 wet dry have an effect on the finish?

Did you finish it with slurry or continue on without it? I would definitely finish without it and, in my experience doing that, you should end up without a cloudy bevel.

    I agree, let us know.

I've never taken the time to look at the bevel with slurry only after clear water but what Utopian said makes sense.

With that said, Remember that the Shave is the Ultimate Test.

    Sir:
In my experience with my cnat i have learned that the edge coming off my naniwa 8k is more mirror like that after the cnat! But! It shaves wayyyy better... I used to be concerned alot about how the edge looked with my 40x and the hht... Ive noticed that shaving with the razor is the true test... Who cares how your edge looks like as long as you get a great shave... Now i use the 40x to just ensure that the bevel is even and that the finish that the edge has is the same across... I hope that helped...

Well, it's easier to type than "Tiananmen Thuri"!!

    or "Communist Coti!"

    or "Red China Razor Spiffer"

    or "Dogmatist's Droescher"

    or..

I'd better stop there or the censors won't let me view videos on youku!!

Red China Razor Spiffer. I think we have a winner here for the official name of the PHIG. Of course Commi Coti is pretty nice too.
