Stones is never too much, each stone is unique in its own way. All stones have to be "workhorses". This is for fanatics razors.

I have a beautiful La Dressante coticule from Ardennes on the way which I am determined to master. I want to use it exclusively until I can achieve no finer an edge. I however own a 1k which I want to keep due to bevel set but I also have a 3/8k and a combo coti which I do not like. I'm having mixed emotions on what to do with them.
Good on you for wanting to master the coticule, it really is the only stone you will need. I recently made the switch and I am getting superb edges. I ended up selling my naniwa stones and japanese natural and just kept my 1k for heavier restoration work.
I say sell the 3/8 k and combo coti in the classified section. Better have someone put them to use than have it collect dust. Shipping to the US is quite simple, it will cost around 16$ CAD with tracking and should arrive in 6 business days.

I am going to use it exclusively until I can achieve no better an edge. What kind of coti did you get? I got a bout #8 because they appeal to me more then a rectangle. I will probably only sell the combo coti. I want to keep the 3/8k for a friend of mine.

That is the ideal strategy for every hone for every honer.
